PIAS is moving from Pascal to D
The standard 64-bit release, from October 5, 2026.

PIAS is moving from its current Pascal version to a new version built in D, running on 64-bit and replacing the current 32-bit version. For most users, this change won’t be visible in day-to-day use, the interface and your way of working stay the same. Under the hood, PIAS moves to a modern technical foundation, fully supported on current versions of Windows, that lets us keep developing and supporting PIAS for decades to come. Files work both ways: a 32-bit file opens fine in the new version, and a file from PIAS 64-bit can also be used in the 32-bit version.

Over the past eight years, we’ve translated the entire PIAS codebase, line by line, from Pascal into D, not a module here and there, all of it. This gives us a solid foundation to keep building and supporting PIAS well into the future.

What this means for you: the new 64-bit version is included in your existing support agreement, there is no additional cost. From October 5, you can download the new version from our Cloud, just like a regular update. The 32-bit version will no longer receive updates after October 5.

Also new: a premium version. Alongside the standard 64-bit version, we’re introducing a premium version with real performance gains under the hood. It’s also what makes a number of exciting new modules possible that we’re building right now, including factoring pipelines into probabilistic damage stability calculations, and modules for parametric design. Timeline: transition to PIAS 64-bit is underway now. From September 1 to 4, visit us at SMM in Hamburg, booth B7.420, to learn more and see what’s coming. On October 5, PIAS 64-bit becomes the standard release, alongside the new premium version.
