PIAS moves to D and becomes a 64-bit release
From Monday, October 5, 2026, PIAS moves from Pascal to D. The new version runs on 64-bit and replaces the current 32-bit version, which will no longer receive updates after that date. It is included in your existing support agreement at no extra cost, and you can download it from the SARC Cloud, just like a regular update.
For most users, day-to-day work stays exactly the same. The interface and your way of working do not change, and files work both ways: a 32-bit file opens fine in the new version, and a file from the 64-bit version can also be used in the 32-bit version.
Behind the scenes, this is a big step. Over the past eight years, we built a dedicated translation tool and used it to convert the entire PIAS codebase from Pascal into D. Not a module here and there, all of it. That gives us a solid foundation to keep developing and supporting PIAS for decades to come.
Introducing PIAS/ES26
Alongside the new release, we are introducing PIAS/ES26. Unlike ES1, ES2 and ES3, which scale with the number of cores you use, ES26 speeds up the calculation itself, regardless of how many cores you have. In our testing, calculations ran up to 4x faster compared to the previous 32-bit version. Gains vary by calculation, some see a modest improvement, others considerably more.
ES26 works right alongside ES1, ES2 and ES3, and the improvements stack. It is also the foundation for new capabilities we are building, such as taking pipelines into account in probabilistic damage stability calculations. Future additions like this will require ES26 to run.
