System Requirements – PIAS / LOCOPIAS / Fairway

To ensure optimal performance, stability, and user experience, the following system specifications are recommended.

Operating System
Windows 11 (64-bit). Windows 10 64-bit is supported. Windows 8 and earlier are not supported.

Processor (CPU)
Recommended: A modern 64-bit multi-core CPU with multi-threading support (mT), such as Intel Core i5, i7 or i9 (8th generation or newer), or AMD Ryzen 5, 7 or 9 (Zen 2 or newer).
Minimum: Dual-core 64-bit CPU with multi-threading support.

Multi-threading support is license dependent. PIAS and LOCOPIAS support scalable multi-threaded calculations. Depending on the licensed configuration, the software supports Dual-MT (2 threads), Octo-MT (8 threads) or Viginti-MT (20 threads). Higher MT licenses benefit from CPUs with a higher number of physical cores and sufficient memory bandwidth. CPUs such as Intel Core i9 or AMD Ryzen 9 are strongly recommended when using Octo-MT or Viginti-MT licenses.

Memory (RAM)
Minimum 8 GB. Recommended 16 GB.

Disk Space
Minimum 1 GB free disk space for installation. Use of SSD storage is recommended for improved load times and overall responsiveness.

Graphics (Fairway / Visualization)
For Fairway, a dedicated graphics card from NVIDIA or AMD with its own dedicated video memory (VRAM) and OpenGL support is recommended. Integrated graphics solutions may function but can result in reduced visualization performance. The display should support at least Full HD resolution (1920×1080).

Additional Notes
Multi-core and multi-threaded CPUs significantly improve calculation speed and responsiveness, particularly when using higher MT licenses. Systems with dedicated GPUs provide substantially better performance for Fairway visualizations. Virtual machines are supported, provided sufficient CPU cores, memory and, for Fairway, GPU acceleration are available.
